Cheap Ware
There is an enormous amount of high quality, easy to use, and inexpensive development tools on the market.
Here are my top picks (and their free equivalents)
- IntelliJ - the best Java IDE bar none (like eclipse but better)
- FishEye - put your version control system to work for you (like viewcvs but better)
- Jira - the defacto standard in bug and issue tracking software (like bugzilla but better)
- Confluence - enterprise strength collaborative documentation (like a wiki but better)
- SonicMQ- Light-weight messaging middleware (like activeMQ but better)
- Clover - code test coverage tool (like emma but better)
- AntHill, BeetleJuice - continuous integration build servers (like cruisecontrol/damagecontrol)
